Eco-Trends that are Reshaping the Apparel Industry


You just never know what you’re going to see walking down a runway during world-famous fashion weeks in Paris, Milan, and New York (amongst other locales).  But one thing is generally certain: you’ll rarely see a slate of creations with an eye towards the eco-friendly.  Between fabric, feathers, fur, metal, plastic, and other materials used to manufacture outfits (clothing, shoes, and jewelry), along with the metric ton of aerosol hairspray and shellac used to make models shimmer, shine, and stay in place, you can pretty much assume that the environment is not high on the list of priorities for the fashion industry.  And yet, with more designers like conservationist Linda Loudermilk and vegetarian Stella McCartney lighting up the runways with their eco-conscious designs (and more consumers seeking fashionable, sustainable options for their wardrobes), it seems that even haute couture is not above a green makeover.
